Mobilisation begins next week, with a target programme completion set for early spring.

As well as having responsibility for the scaffolding, our works on these pitched roof areas will include the strip of the existing roof and installation of new interlocking tiles with fascia and gutters, as well as downpipes.

With residents remaining in their apartments throughout, our experienced site team will keep disruption to a minimum, whilst maintaining COVID-safe working practices.

School Starts Early for Highview in Surrey

School Starts Early for Highview in Surrey

We are delighted to be making improvements to the Grove Primary School in Frimley, Surrey.

Having been instructed by Jarman Ward Surveyors, Highview will be installing a new Bauderflex roofing system with insulation to the single-storey education building.

Starting next month, our six-week programme will be delivered during March, when students are expected to return to the school following the latest Covid-19 lockdown. Carrying out these works whilst the site remains operational will not pose a challenge to our teams, who are seasoned professionals when it comes to keeping disruption to staff and pupils to a minimum.

Working to the latest COVID guidelines, a thorough plan to isolate our operatives from the school has been developed, ensuring that safety remains paramount.

Southampton Win Reinforces South West Expansion

Southampton Win Reinforces South West Expansion

This week we are thrilled to be mobilising our latest win in the South of England, for Contractors BSPS Ltd, in the coastal city of Southampton.

Installing Bituminous roofing to the main flat roof area, as well as Bauder liquid product to the balcony, Highview will be refurbishing this busy mixed-use city centre residential/commercial property for the next 3 weeks, whilst it remains occupied and operational.

“With the arrival of new Regional Director, James Cramp, towards the end of last year, as well as the continued growth of our supply chain into southern and western parts of England, this project win perfectly complements our plans to steadily increase our workload in the South West in the year to come.”

Keeping Calm – Construction Continues

Keeping Calm - Construction Continues

Our country may well be once again under tighter restrictions for a while, but the construction industry carries on, jobs are being issued and sites are continuing to mobilise safely and responsibly into their new year programmes.

With vaccinations rolling out and orders rolling in, we have a lot to feel positive about at Highview, and we’d like to begin 2021 by wishing you a Happy New Year and good mental health. The impacts of lockdown can be tough to tackle and advice on mental health and wellbeing, along with guidance on accessing support, can be found here on the NHS website.

We really look forward to another year of working with our existing connections, as well as making new ones, and supporting the growth of more small businesses than ever.

Stay Safe, Stay Positive.

Highview Team Shine at Recent Product Training

Highview Team Shine at Recent Product Training

At Highview, we are always looking for ways to invest in the training and development of our staff, so we recently welcomed the opportunity to send two of our buying and estimating team members on a full day product and install course courtesy of Langley Roofing Systems.

Casey Dennis (now Buyer and former Highview Administrator) and Pippa Gazeley (Trainee Estimator) attended the training day as part of a series of professional development initiatives which we are implementing, in partnership with our approved manufacturers, that also includes a two-day roofing installation for ‘Women in Roofing’ scheduled to take place early next year.

This full day course included an introduction to ‘Safe to Torch’, a Langley Membrane installation introduction, use of self-adhesive, hot air guns and gas torch works. All of which was completed very successfully by the Highview team.

As our Trainee Estimator, Pippa will also be continuing to embellish her understanding of our commonly used installation methods in the coming months, with courses in Hot Melt, Single Ply, Liquid Course and Bitumen.

From Manufacturer to Contractor – James Cramp Joins Highview

From Manufacturer to Contractor - James Cramp Joins Highview

10 years into his construction career, James Cramp recently made the decision to bring his knowledge and experience from roofing manufacturing, to benefit our delivery at Highview, in his new role as Regional Director.

We asked James to introduce himself and share some compelling insights from his unique CV…

Background

“I come from a construction family which led me to attend university to study architectural design technology and production at the Leicester school of architecture, based within De Montfort University. During my time at university I worked a placement year, and then part-time, at Moss Architecture as an architectural technologist. I also worked part-time for a local tanking company called Midlands Tanking as a CAD draughtsman.”

“After a brief stint in recruitment I joined Marley Eternit as their first ever graduate scheme. I spent 2 years working in their technical department specialising in Pitched roofing and Facades. This then led to my first area manager role, as a Façade specification manager in the South West, which then increased to the whole of the South over 2 years. An opportunity then became available at Bauder, where I worked for 6 years.”

Roofing Systems

“I have a strong knowledge of most flat roofing systems, having used all within my time at Bauder.”

“The systems I used the most were Bituminous, Single ply and Liquid. I also have a good understanding of green roof requirements.”

“From my days at Marley, I have a good technical knowledge on pitched roofing from clay tiles, concrete tiles to fibre cement slates and I have a very good knowledge of fibre cement facades.”

Manufacturer to Contractor

“I loved working for Bauder, who are an incredible company, but decided it was time for me to gain a greater experience elsewhere. Progression is a key thing in my career and I believe making the move now will benefit me in the long term.”

“Having worked with the teams at Highview previously, and working alongside Dan Costen during my time at Bauder, the opportunity to join the company and the role given to me is one I didn’t want to turn down.”

Highview Ambitions

“I would like to grow the business with a strong and loyal client base.”

“We will strive to offer the best service possible and where there may be times when this is stretched, it will be all about our honesty and integrity to meet the clients’ needs.”

“I hope to influence the business growth, bringing my technical knowledge, alongside my organisational skills, to increase an already thriving business.”

Giving the Clients Extra

“With my extensive knowledge of flat roofing, pitched roofing and facades, I have been on both sides of the fence. I understand the manufacturer’s route to market and what they will want for the client and marry that up with what we can offer from Highview.”
